Biography

Kyle O’Brien enters his first season with the Chiefs as a regional scout and begins his 11th campaign in the National Football League in 2012. Prior to joining the Chiefs, O’Brien spent 10 seasons (2002-11) as a ful-time staff member with the New England Patriots’ personnel department. He spent two seasons as a national scout (2010-11) and worked for five years (2003, 2006-09) as an area scout. O’Brien served as the team’s pro personnel scout from 2004-05. He originally joined the Patriots as a player personnel intern in 2000 and continued those duties during the Patriots’ first Super Bowl season in 2001 while attending Harvard.

Before his tenure in New England, O’Brien was a player personnel intern for the New York Jets in 1999.

The Garden City, N.Y., native attended Harvard, where he lettered in lacrosse. He is also a graduate of Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., where he lettered in football and lacrosse.
