Biography

Tom Melvin enters his third season as Kansas City’s tight ends coach and is beginning his 17th season as an NFL assistant coach in 2015.

The tight end corps held a pivotal role in the offensive scheme during the 2014 season claiming nine of the club’s 18 touchdown receptions. Melvin helped mentor Travis Kelce’s notable first healthy NFL season as Kelce led the NFL in yards per catch and ranked third in the AFC in both receptions (67) and receiving yards (862) among tight ends. Melvin has produced well-rounded tight ends including the development of Demetrius Harris. The group held starting roles that included a three-tight end set.
