Biography

Mike Clark enters his third season as Kansas City’s strength and conditioning coach after serving in the same capacity for six seasons with Seattle (2004-09). During his tenure in Seattle, Clark was a member of the Seahawks team that advanced to Super Bowl XL under Head Coach Mike Holmgren. Clark played high school football at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Mo., and continued as a center at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan.

Clark played high school football at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Mo., and continued as a center at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan.

Clark joined the NFL ranks after a successful 25-year career as a collegiate coach. He was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in 2003. He was named the NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by American Football Monthly in 2005. In addition, he was named the Strength Coach of the Year in 1993 and 2000 by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

As Kansas City’s strength and conditioning coach, Clark is responsible for overseeing the Chiefs year-round conditioning efforts. Clark aims to build on those gains through a program designed to keep the Chiefs in top physical condition over the entire NFL campaign.

Prior to joining the Seahawks in 2004, Clark served as the strength and conditioning coach for 14 campaigns at Texas A&M (1990-03). In 2000, he added the duties of assistant athletic director to his job description. During his time with the Aggies, Clark served as president of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in 2000.

The Wichita, Kan., native served as the strength and conditioning coach at USC (1988-89), Oregon (1983-87), Kansas (1982) and Wyoming (1981). Clark was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Topeka (Kan.) High School from 1979-80. He originally entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant with Kansas (1977-78).
