Chiefs Cut Ribbon on Renovated High School Football Field
Oct 08, 2003, 10:38:00 AM

(L-R) Dante Hall, Eddie Kennison, and Carl Peterson are jubilantly surrounded by the Central Football Team in celebration after the ribbon was cut.
Chiefs President Carl Peterson, WR Dante Hall, and WR Eddie Kennison were on hand to officially usher in the field. They were joined at the gathering by the Central High School Fighting Eagles football squad, along with dignitaries from Central High School, the School District, KC Parks and Rec. and City Officials.
The field renovation was directed by Chiefs Sports Field Manager and Central High Alum Andre Bruce. The newly upgraded gridiron facility will allow the school to host football contests beginning next season. Future additions to the field will include a scoreboard and coaching communications system.
This project is being funded through the Kansas City Chiefs Children’s Fund and continues the organization’s commitment to bettering youth football in the local community. The renovation of the field is just one of the many ways that the Chiefs have become involved with Central High School’s football program. One of the other programs in place, thanks to funding help through the NFL’s Youth Football Fund and the National Football Foundation, is the placement of an academic coach at Central High School as part of the “Play it Smart” program. In support of “Play it Smart,” Hall and Kennison have been joined by DE R-Kal Truluck and G Brian Waters in making regular visits with the football team to enforce the importance of obtaining a good education and taking responsibility for ones actions.
