Who Will the Chiefs Pick in Round 1? | 2024 Mock Draft Roundup 4.0

Here’s the latest look at who the experts think the Chiefs will draft on April 25

The 2024 NFL Draft is just two weeks away, which means the internet is rife with mock drafts and projections aimed at predicting how the first round will play out.

Here's a look at who some of the latest mock drafts from around the web have the Chiefs selecting with the No. 32 overall pick on April 25. Additionally, all previous roundup articles can be found below.

Previous Roundups: 1.0 | 2.0 | 3.0

ESPN (Mel Kiper Jr.) (April 10): South Carolina WR Xavier Legette

One of the original draft experts, Mel Kiper Jr. from ESPN, chose a wide receiver for Kansas City in South Carolina pass-catcher Xavier Legette. Here's what Kiper had to say about the selection:

"Another mock draft, another wideout connected with Chiefs to end Round 1. Legette made a leap in 2023, putting up 1,255 receiving yards with seven touchdowns. He had just 167 yards in the entire 2022 season. He then ran an eye-popping 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the combine, solidifying himself among the top 10 prospects at his position. Kansas City added Marquise Brown but needs to add more pass-catchers this offseason."

CBS Sports (April 10): Clemson CB Nate Wiggins

Pete Prisco from CBS Sports has the Chiefs taking speedy Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins – who ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash of any player at the NFL Scouting Combine – with the No. 32 overall pick. Here's more from Prisco:

"They could go receiver here -- maybe Xavier Worthy -- or a tackle, but with the run on tackles, I have them taking a cover corner to help replace L'Jarius Sneed."

NFL.com (Rhett Lewis) (April 9): Missouri CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

NFL Network Host Rhett Lewis also has the Chiefs selecting a cornerback in the first round, but he instead went with Mizzou defensive back Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

Lewis explained the pick below:

"Wide receiver is a popular pick for the Chiefs in Round 1, but didn't their Super Bowl run teach us anything about Patrick Mahomes' ability to thrive despite a lack of top-tier talent on the outside? The trade of L'Jarius Sneed opens up a hole at one of the corner spots, where Rakestraw, who's smooth in the pass game and physical against the run, would slot in well."

Bleacher Report (April 10): BYU OT Kingsley Suamataia

The folks at Bleacher Report sent BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia to Kansas City to wrap up the first round. Here's a portion of their analysis:

"Protect Patrick Mahomes at all costs. With Mahomes still only 28 years old, the Kansas City Chiefs' championship window is wide open for an extended period…Having All-Pro Joe Thuney at left guard with Andy Heck coaching the unit and Andy Reid calling plays remains as good of a situation as it gets for a young lineman to develop, so the rawness of Suamataia's game becomes less of a concern the more you analyze what will be around him."

Pro Football Focus (April 8): Georgia WR Ladd McConkey

Max Chadwick from PFF predicted that Kansas City would select Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey in his latest mock draft. Here's what he had to say about the decision:

"The addition of Marquise Brown certainly helped, but the Chiefs could still add more talent at wide receiver. McConkey is a route-running technician with excellent quickness."

The Athletic (April 8): Georgia WR Ladd McConkey

Nick Baumgardner from The Athletic also went with McConkey is his latest mock draft. Here's more from Baumgardner:

"This doesn't feel fair. The Chiefs need a tackle, sure, but giving Patrick Mahomes the most QB-friendly receiver in this draft could be a whole lot of fun."

FOX Sports (April 8): Alabama CB Kool-Aid McKinstry

Nick Wright from FOX Sports went with Alabama standout Kool-Aid McKinstry to Kansas City to wrap up the first round. Here's what NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein wrote about McKinstry in his pre-draft writeup:

"McKinstry is more of a pure cover man than a playmaker, but his poise, intelligence and athleticism should lead him toward becoming a good outside corner with scheme versatility."

The 33rd Team (April 8): Texas WR Adonai Mitchell

Diante Lee from The 33rd Team selected former Longhorns' wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with the No. 32 overall pick. Here's a portion of what Lee had to say about the selection:

"Adonai Mitchell can serve several roles in this offense with his size and speed… Giving him a clear role walking into the league can fast track his ability to impact a game."
