Kansas City Leads Philadelphia, 6-3, at Halftime

The Chiefs lead the Eagles at halftime of the home opener

The Kansas City Chiefs are leading the Philadelphia Eagles, 6-3, at halftime at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kicker Cairo Santos was responsible for both of Kansas City's scores, hitting a 34-yard field goal on the Chiefs' opening drive and a 39-yarder in the closing seconds of the half.

Santos' second field goal, which gave Kansas City the lead, was set up when long snapper James Winchester forced Eagles' return man Darren Sproles to fumble on a punt return. Fullback Anthony Sherman recovered the fumble, leading to Santos' field goal.

Chiefs' quarterback Alex Smith completed 10 of 15 passes for 122 yards in the half. Tight end Travis Kelce hauled in team-leading five passes for 71 yards through the air.

Eagles' kicker Jake Elliott missed a 30-yard field goal that would have tied the game as time expired in the period.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones and linebacker Dee Ford each had a sack for the Chiefs in the half as the Kansas City defense held Philadelphia out of the end zone. Through six quarters this season, the Chiefs have yet to allow a passing touchdown.
