Q: Have you been able to sense the home crowd on the field during your games at Arrowhead?
CRENNEL: “Definitely. If the crowd is involved in the game it does help the defense. That is one of the things that our players have to do, we have to get the crowd involved and you do that by making plays, by giving great effort. When we do that, they get excited because they are on our side. All we have to do is give them something to cheer about.”
Q: How do you go out there and set the tone early?
CRENNEL: “Well, hopefully we will do a better job of figuring that out than we did the last time. The last time we played them they were like the pitcher that was ahead in the count. We got behind in the count and then their variety of what they were able to do expanded and we never could catch up. That has something to do with it. We had an opportunity to make a couple plays early that we didn’t make and they stayed ahead in the count. What we have to do is not get behind in the count this time and then see if we can play a lot better.”
Q: What do you need to do to get ahead in the count?
CRENNEL: “Well, we have to do a better job against the run first of all because we didn’t do a very good job against the run. If we do a better job against the run I think that will help us against the play-action pass. The play-action pass hurt us a little bit and then we didn’t get them into third down at all so hopefully we can get them into third down and we will be able to use that crowd noise more and that will help us.”
Q: Would it be fair to say the position group that you would like to see improve most is the line and the pass rush?
CRENNEL: “That will help us in coverage and it helps everything. We just try to get better every day is what we try to do. We know we are a long way from being perfect; we have a lot of work to do and a lot of things we can improve on. We are just going to keep working and try to get better as we go down the stretch.”
