OPENING STATEMENT: “On the injury front, Kendrick Lewis, (Allen) Bailey and (Anthony) Toribio, they’re limited, able to do some individuals, so that’s where they are. (Devon) Wylie will probably practice again today, and then with (Brandon) Flowers and (Jalil) Brown, they took their turns in practice. I think the more they can do, the better we can feel about them. So, expect them to take their turns in practice today as well, and then we’ll see how they do and kind of go from there. We’re trying to get better every day. We’re working on fundamentals and techniques, and hopefully we can take that to the game and make sure we’re on top of our assignments and our execution. Hopefully it will play out well for us.”

RANDY COVITZ (KC STAR): How effective can someone be after sitting out for six weeks like Flowers?

CRENNEL: “I think that you have to kind of temper it and know that conditioning will be a factor, and if the guy is able to play, you may have to monitor his reps. Then, some of that will depend on how the game goes. Probably asking him to play 100 plays would not be the thing to do, but if you can mix in here and there and give him a break now and then, then maybe he can get through a game.”

ADAM TEICHER (KC STAR): What’s been the issue with him? Is it that he’s not been cleared?

CRENNEL: “He was hurt, and he was working to try to get it better. It’s better, and he’s working through it. I don’t know that he’s 100-percent, but he’s working through it. He’s able to do more, so we’re going to ask him to do more.”

JAY BINKLEY (610 SPORTS RADIO): So medically he’s been cleared to play?

CRENNEL: “The doctors have told him that he can play if he felt good about it.”

BOB GRETZ (BOBGRETZ.COM): He’s done a lot of playing in pain hasn’t he?

CRENNEL: “He has in the past, definitely.”

GRETZ: Is it different when you’re a corner and you have to move about so much?

CRENNEL: “I think at that position, you’re limbs – your lower limbs, particularly – are critical to your success at that position, so when it’s not right, it makes it tougher for you to do your job.”

COVITZ: How confident are you that Matt Cassel will shake off that last game? Is it a crossroads this week?

CRENNEL: “Well, it was a crossroads game last week. Every game is going to be a crossroads game until the season is over. Not only for Matt but for all of us, so we approach it and he approaches it just like he approaches every game. He will do everything he can do to prepare to play his best in the game and help the team win. He’s no different this week than he was the week before as far as preparation goes. He’ll get in the game and you’ll see what happens in the game. I’ve said all along that Matt is a good, solid quarterback. He’s taken us to the playoffs before. I think that he has capabilities of taking us to the playoffs again. I think he’s going to work to try and get that done.”

COVITZ: Buffalo has probably been one of the more difficult stadiums you’ve played in?

CRENNEL: “As any, yes. The fans there in Buffalo kind of get into it like our fans do here. You do have to deal with the crowd noise and you do have to deal with the travel. They rev it up a little bit, and I think they’ll be more revved up Sunday because it’s their home opener and they have lost a game just like we have. I think they’re going to give us their best shot.”
