Charles Sets Single-Season Career High: RB Jamaal Charles carried the ball 14 times for 53 yards (3.8 avg.) in today’s contest, setting a new personal single-season career high with 1,509 rushing yards. His previous single-season high was 1,467 in the 2010 season. His 1,509 yards are the fifth-best seasonal total in team history, passing RB Christian Okoye (1,480). He gained the 1,509 yards on 285 carries, good for a 5.3 yards per carry average.

He becomes just the third player in team history to record more than 1,500 rushing yards in a single season. This marks the fifth time in franchise history that a running back eclipsed the 1,500-yard mark rushing the ball.

In his career, Charles has 4,536 rushing yards to rank fourth in team history for most career rushing yards.

Charles finished the season as the NFL’s all-time leader for highest career rushing average by a running back with a minimum of 750 attempts. In his career, he now has 784 carries for 4,536 yards, good for a 5.79 yards per carry average.

Arenas Forces Fumble: CB Javier Arenas forced a RB Ronnie Hillman fumble. It is his second forced fumble of the season and the second forced fumble of his three-year career.

Flowers Picks Up Loose Ball: CB Brandon Flowers recorded his first fumble recovery of the 2012 season off a RB Ronnie Hillman fumble and returned it 64 yards to the Denver 12-yard line. The 64-yard fumble return is the longest fumble return of his career. His previous long was a 37-yard fumble return vs. Denver (9/28/08). It was his fifth-career fumble recovery.

Succop Passes 100 Points: K Ryan Succop surpassed 100 points for the season with a 23-yard field goal in the second quarter to give him 101 points in 2012. It is the third time in his four seasons as a member of the Chiefs that he has eclipsed 100 points for a season. His single-season career high was 104 points, set in his rookie year in 2009.

Johnson’s Career Tackle Mark: LB Derrick Johnson finished the game with six solo tackles. He finished the 2012 season with 125 tackles (110 solo) to lead the team for the third straight season. He now has 874 tackles for his career, good enough to rank fifth in team history. With 26 more tackles, Johnson would become just the fourth player in team history to record 900 tackles.

Colquitt’s Performance Inside the 20: P Dustin Colquitt punted eight times for 373 yards (46.6 gross, 45.8 net) in today’s contest, landing three punts inside the 20-yard line. His three punts inside the 20 give him 45 punts inside the 20 for the season, setting a new single-season franchise record, passing his old mark of 41 from the 2009 season. He now has 250 punts inside the 20 to rank first in team history.
