The National Football League informed the Chiefs on Wednesday that LB Tamba Hali has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 31-10 win vs. San Francisco (9/26). It is the first POW honor of Hali’s career.

Hali (6-3, 275) tied a career high with 3.0 sacks (-15.0 yards) of 49ers QB Alex Smith and also added a forced fumble, as well as two tackles and three QB pressures. The Penn State University product has started 66 games for the Chiefs, recording 252 tackles (189 solo) with 30.5 sacks (-186.0 yards), one INT and 16 forced fumbles, as well as 43 QB pressures, and seven passes defensed.
