Posted Jul 22, 2010

Moeaki is the third member of the Chiefs 2010 Draft Class under contract

The Chiefs have inked another member of the 2010 Draft Class. This time, its third-round pick Tony Moeaki.

The tight end out of Iowa represents the third member of the Chiefs class to sign his deal. On Tuesday, fifth-round pick Cameron Sheffield went under contract and earlier, on June 29th, fellow fifth-rounder Kendrick Lewis made his signing official. Moeaki’s signing leaves the Chiefs with its four highest picks players from the draft class remaining unsigned.

5th overall – S Eric Berry

36th overall – WR Dexter McCluster

50th overall – CB Javier Arenas

68th overall – OL Jon Asamoah

Significant progress is being made across the league with third-round picks. Moeaki represents the 24th of 34 players chosen in the third-round to sign his rookie deal. If sandwich picks are any indication of a forthcoming agreement, the two players surrounding Chiefs third-rounder Jon Asamoah are already under contract (67th overall pick S Myron Lewis, Tampa Bay and 69th overall pick T Jared Veldheer, Oakland).

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date when the front office confirms any rookie signings.

With training camp report dates across the league quickly approaching, more and more high-round picks are agreeing to contract terms each day.
