Berry’s first camp will take place this Saturday in the Kansas City area at Lee’s Summit High School. The cost is $99 per camper with all proceeds benefitting the Eric Berry Foundation.
Berry will be on hand to offer expert advice and instruction to camp participants.
“We’re going to have some coaches out there,” Berry said. “We’re going to teach them the basics. I think that’s what kids need to focus on now days, just the basics. All in all, I think it will be a great time.
“We’re going to learn fundamentals and all the things you do on the field, but at the same time I think it will be a good experience to just get out there and be active and have fun doing something that kids love to do and that’s play football. It will be a great experience. We’ll have food out there for the kids, plenty of drinks so they can stay hydrated. I think it will be a great deal.”
Registration for all of Berry’s camps is online at WWW.ERICBERRYFOUNDATION.ORG
Berry started his foundation in 2010 to restore community parks in an effort to create places where “kids can just be kids.”
The foundation’s first project, which began in the summer of 2010, is the rejuvenation of Clarence Duncan Park in Fairburn, Ga. Following the refurbishment of Duncan Park, the Eric Berry Foundation is committed to forming partnerships in Knoxville and Kansas City in order to restore community parks in need and give kids a safe place where they can go to learn, play and thrive.
“I don’t like to put any type of limitations on it, whether it’s a football camp, field trip to an art museum,” Berry said of the foundation. “I just kind of do whatever needs to be done. I definitely do camps every year. I have a few in Atlanta, a few in Tennessee. I definitely wanted to come to Kansas City because this is my new home. I felt this would be a great place to go ahead and do that.”
