Considerable Amount of Scratches Tonight

Posted Sep 2, 2010

Five players will not dress for Chiefs; 12 won't dress for Packers

Five Chiefs will not dress for Thursday night’s game against Green Bay. OLB Tamba Hali, RT Ryan O’Callaghan, CB Maurice Leggett, OLB Cameron Sheffield and G Darryl Harris all missed practice time this week and will be held out.

Barry Richardson is once again expected to start in O’Callaghan’s place on the right offensive edge. O’Callaghan was injured in practice over one week ago and Richardson has repped in his place since. Mike Vrabel stepped into Hali’s role at right outside linebacker in practice this week, likely bringing Andy Studebaker into the starting lineup tonight on the left side.

The Packers are resting a considerable amount of starters.

Earlier this week, Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that his starters would play one series in tonight’s contest. That statement might still hold true, but QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Ryan Grant, LT Chad Clifton, RDE Cullen Jenkins, LOLB Clay Matthews, ROLB Brad Jones and LCB Charles Woodson won’t be part of that list.

Expected replacements for those players include QB Matt Flynn for Rodgers, RB Brandon Jackson for Grant, T T.J. Lang for Clifton, DE Mike Neal for Jenkins, LB Brady Poppinga for Matthews, OLB Frank Zombo for Jones and CB Sam Shields for Woodson.

Other players held out for Green Bay include OL Bryan Bulaga, OL Allen Barbre, LB Desmond Bishop, CB Brandon Underwood and S Wil Blackmon.
