THE MATCH-UP
The Chiefs and Raiders will square off for the 103rd renewal of a bitter division feud that dates back to the original days of the American Football League when Kansas City visits Oakland on Sunday (11/7). The Chiefs are seeking to become the first team to ever register eight consecutive road wins against the Raiders. KC’s seven-game victory streak at Oakland ties as the NFL’s longest active road victory streak with the N.Y. Giants, who have won eight straight trips to Atlanta.

KC and Oakland both enter the contest on the strength of two-game winning streaks and will battle for the top spot in the AFC West standings. The Chiefs are seeking to construct their second three-game victory string of the season, while the Raiders are hoping to win three straight for the fi rst time since 2002.

Head Coach Todd Haley’s squad is one of five AFC clubs with fi ve or more victories. Kansas City registered its fifth victory in thrilling fashion as K Ryan Succop hit a 35-yard FG as time expired in overtime to give the Chiefs a 13-10 win vs. Buffalo (10/31). The Chiefs have registered three straight games with 200 rushing yards for the first time since ’78 and are seeking to accomplish the feat in four straight contests for the fi rst time in franchise history.

The NFL’s top two rushing squads will square off on Sunday. Kansas City (190.4 ypg) leads the NFL, while Oakland (168.5 ypg) is second. The Chiefs have piled up 738 rushing yards in their last three games, a total higher than 12 teams have accumulated all season. Only the Raiders (1,348 yards) have more team rushing yards than the 1,204 combined yards produced by Chiefs RBs Jamaal Charles (666) and Thomas Jones (538).

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has compiled a 103.9 passer rating over his last five starts and has thrown 119 consecutive passes without an INT, the third-longest active streak in the NFL. WR Dwayne Bowe has caught a TD in three straight games, producing 12 receptions for 205 yards with fi ve TDs over that span.

The Chiefs have been even or positive in the turnover column in eight consecutive games, the club’s longest streak since 2003. Kansas City ranks fifth in scoring defense, permitting 17.4 ppg and has held six of its seven foes to 20 points or less. The Raiders have outscored their last two foes by a 92-to-34 margin, the club’s highest scoring output in back-to-back games since 2002. Oakland has also posted 500 yards of total offense in those two contests, a first in that franchise’s history. Up next for Kansas City is a contest at Denver (11/14), while Oakland will enjoy a bye.

THE SERIES
Kansas City owns a 54-46-2 advantage over Oakland in regular and postseason play. The Chiefs have also beaten Denver 54 times, tying for the most victories the Chiefs have accumulated against any opponent. The Chiefs are 2-1 against Oakland in postseason play. The two teams split the series a year ago with Oakland registering a 13-10 decision at Arrowhead (9/20/09) while Kansas City took a 16-10 win at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (11/15/09). The Chiefs haven’t registered a sweep in the series since 2006 while the Raiders last sweep came in 2001.

The Chiefs are 30-11 (.732) overall vs. the Raiders dating back to ’90, including a ’91 AFC playoff tilt. The Chiefs had a nine-game winning streak snapped in 2007 at home against the Raiders, the longest victory stretch by either squad in this series. That nine-game winning streak against the Raiders ranks as the second-longest mark by the Chiefs against any one opponent, behind an 11-game winning streak over Denver from ’64-69.

Kansas City has registered a 15-5 (.750) regular season record against the Raiders at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Oakland-Alameda Colesium since ’90. The Chiefs have won seven straight games at Oakland, which marks the longest such streak against the Raiders in league history. Kansas City owns a pair of postseason wins against the Raiders, including a 17-7 win in the ’69 AFL Championship Game (1/4/70) that sent the Chiefs to Super Bowl IV. Kansas City also claimed a 10-6 victory in the first postseason contest played at Arrowhead (12/28/91).
