THE MATCH-UP
Kansas City will welcome the undefeated Green Bay Packers to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. The Chiefs will look to end the Packers unbeaten streak at 19 games (regular season and postseason) dating back to the 2010 season. Kansas City is coming off a 37-10 setback at the N.Y. Jets (12/11). Green Bay posted a 46-16 victory vs. Oakland (12/11).

During the past four weeks, the Chiefs defense has produced 14.0 sacks (-93.0 yards), tying for the third-highest total in the NFL since Nov. 20. In his last two games, LB Justin Houston has tallied 4.0 sacks (-22.0 yards). He needs 2.0 or more QB takedowns for the fifth-highest total by a rookie in Chiefs history. Meanwhile, LB Tamba Hali has amassed a team-high 9.0 sacks (-67.0 yards) to tie for fi fth in the AFC. Dating back to 2010, he has registered 23.5 sacks (-158.5 yards), the fifth-highest total in the NFL over that time period.

Dating back to Oct. 2, the Chiefs defense is limiting opponents to 19.6 points per game. That total ranks eighth in the AFC and 11th in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Chiefs defense has been particularly efficient on third down, only allowing opponents to convert 30.6% of their third-down attempts over that time period. That is the third-best mark in the NFL.

LB Derrick Johnson leads the Chiefs defense with 151 tackles and is on pace for 186 stops, a total that would be the highest single-season mark in team history. Since Nov. 1, Johnson has tallied an astounding 74 tackles, an average of 12.3 tackles per game. The club has returned two interceptions for touchdowns, including one by CB Brandon Flowers and one by S Kendrick Lewis.

K Ryan Succop has made 17 consecutive fi eld goals, the longest streak in his career. That streak is also the fourth-longest in team history. He made a 53-yard fi eld goal last week at the N.Y. Jets (12/11), his third 50+ yard fi eld goal of 2011. CB Javier Arenas is third in the NFL with a 13.3-yard punt return average.

Kansas City stays home to host AFC West rival Oakland on Saturday, Dec. 24. The Chiefs end the regular season with a trip to Denver on Sunday Jan. 1. Green Bay hosts Chicago on Sunday, Dec. 25 at 7:20 p.m.

THE SERIES
The Chiefs own a 6-3-1 (.650) overall record (6-2-1 regular season and 0-1 postseason) in 10 previous meetings with the Packers. Kansas City is 3-2 (.600) at home against Green Bay. The Chiefs won fi ve straight games against the Packers from ’89-03, including posting a perfect 2-0 record at home. During that stretch, Kansas City was 3-0 at Lambeau Field. The Packers won 20-19 when the two clubs met in a preseason game earlier this year at Green Bay (9/1).

Including preseason competition, the Chiefs and Packers have squared off at six different sites in the 23 previous meetings between the two teams (13 preseason, nine regular season and one postseason). In addition to Lambeau Field, Arrowhead Stadium and Milwaukee County Stadium, Kansas City and Green Bay met in Super Bowl I at the LA Coliseum and have competed in preseason play at the Tokyo Dome (8/1/98) and at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio (8/4/03). Green Bay posted a 33-22 win in its last visit to Kansas City (11/4/07) as QB Brett Favre threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns. The clubs also faced each other in Super Bowl I as the Packers won 35-10.
