The Kansas City Chiefs recently honored Horizon Elementary School for exhibiting Chiefs spirit and exemplifying the Chiefs PLAY 60 ideals of eating right and staying active. Through the season-long Chiefs Red Friday Spirit School Program, the Chiefs recognize a local school each week that exhibits its Chiefs fandom for all to see. As this week’s winning school, Horizon received a congratulatory assembly led by members of the Chiefs Community Caring Team, focusing on the Chiefs PLAY 60 message.
This Red Friday Spirit School assembly kicked off with Chiefs Insider Josh Looney officially recognizing the students for all their efforts. Chiefs DT
“These kids at Horizon Elementary were sharp,” noted Gordon. “They were very attentive and you could tell that they took getting active seriously. KC Wolf was surprised at just how fast they were when they won the relay race against him.”
The Chiefs Red Friday Spirit School program is in its second year. This initiative recognizes local schools from throughout the region that showcase their Chiefs spirit on Fridays during the NFL season. Schools that send pictures and narratives of their Chiefs Red Friday Spirit School activities to RedFriday@chiefs.nfl.com have the chance to win a Chiefs Community Caring Team school assembly.
Earlier this year, the Chiefs also recognized Spring Hill Elementary as the local NFL PLAY 60 Super School. One of 34 NFL PLAY 60 Super Schools selected from throughout the country, Spring Hill received a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 health and wellness grant. It was presented at a special Chiefs Community Caring Team school visit.
This is another example of the Kansas City Chiefs commitment to playing an active role in our community. The Hunt Family has made corporate citizenship and charitable giving a priority for the Chiefs. Those efforts focus on organizations and programs which improve the civic and cultural climate in our region, support families and children in crisis, improve health and wellness among children as well as preserve the legacy and history of the game of football. One way the organization supports these efforts is through Chiefs Community Caring Team visits.
