Chiefs Parking Procedures

Posted Aug 5, 2014

Chiefs rollout new parking procedures on Thursday, August 7th

The new parking procedures are implemented at Arrowhead Stadium. After a significant, encompassing review and data analysis of the parking at Truman Sports Complex, the Chiefs have created a number of enhancements to expedite the parking process.

“Across the league, when Season Ticket Members participated in a survey, it was found that the number one complaint from the fans was traffic,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan noted. “When we received that data, we wanted to be responsive and help improve the process.”

Last year, the Chiefs brought in SP Gameday, who has provided services at more than 90 venues and at major events across the world, including the Olympic Games, the Super Bowl and the NCAA Final Four Tournament, to conduct a traffic study for the Truman Sports Complex. The group used data to determine the safest and most efficient way to get fans through the gates.

The Chiefs also consulted with Premier Parking Services, an organization that manages the parking operation at Sprint Center, Cricket Wireless Amphitheater and Sporting Park. Through these two companies, the Chiefs were able to create a more efficient and improved parking process.

“The biggest change that our fans will see is one-way traffic once they enter the gates,” Donovan explained. “When you enter through the toll booth, all fans will be directed in a counter-clockwise flow. Through these studies, we have found that the best way to speed up the parking process is to cut out the cross traffic and keep the flow of traffic in one direction.”

The other change is the price of parking; fans can still purchase tickets for $27, but they need to do so in advance.

“You can still buy parking for Arrowhead Stadium for $27, we are just asking you purchase your passes in advance at the Chiefs Ticket Office or give us a call,” Donovan said. “The problem with purchasing a $27 parking pass at the gate was that it slowed the process down, it wasn’t efficient.”

To purchase $27 parking passes in advance, contact the Chiefs Customer Relations Department at 816-920-4237, or customerrelations@kcchiefs.com, or visit the Chiefs Ticket Office.

General parking on gameday will be $30 cash at Gates 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. Due to heavy traffic congestion at Gate 5, there will be no cash parking purchases. Only guests with prepaid parking passes will be allowed to enter through Gate 5.

“Our goal is to make parking as efficient as possible; I would suggest fans getting in touch with the Customer Relations Department to help create a customized parking plan, so that you know where to go when you arrive at Arrowhead,” Donovan suggested. “We want to help fans get into their parking spots quickly and enhance their experience at Arrowhead Stadium.”

For Thursday night's game against the Bengals, fans are advised to allow for plenty of time to get to the stadium due to the normal rush hour conditions. Parking gates will open at 2:30p.m. and fans that arrive before 3:30p.m. will be able to enjoy open parking, allowing them to park in the lot and space of their choice based on their parking pass (tailgates must still fit within the outlined space).

Bus/RV Parking

A new pass has been created for guests with oversize vehicles that have traditionally used two passes to gain admittance. Oversize vehicles are Class B Buses, RVs or any vehicle that extends beyond one parking space but still fits within two spaces without impeding the emergency vehicle lane. Oversize vehicle passes are available in General, Red and Gold parking lots. Should you currently have two passes for your oversize vehicle , please contact the Customer Relations Department at 816.920.4237 and we would be more than happy to switch these passes out for one Oversize pass. Please note that oversize parking passes are not intended to be used to gain an additional space for tailgating.

Class A & C Buses and RVs require a Bus/RV parking pass and will be directed to park in Lot A on a first come, first serve basis. Space is limited, therefore we recommend you arrive early to secure a bus parking space. The cost of bus parking is $70 and overnight parking for any type of vehicle is prohibited. Click Here for information on the specific gates to come into for Bus/RV.
