Charles Advances In Madden Voting

Jamaal Charles will square off against Browns RB Peyton Hillis in the Elite Eight of EA Sports/ESPN's tournament to determine the next Madden cover athlete

Tim Tebow was eliminated first, followed by the “bowling ball of butcher knives” Maurice Jones-Drew. Sixth-seeded Jamaal Charles has advanced to the Elite Eight of EA Sports/ESPN’s bracket-style tournament that will determine the cover athlete of Madden NFL ’12. Charles will face 10th-seeded Peyton Hillis of the Cleveland Browns in Round Three voting April 4th – 11th.

After a decisive first-round victory over Tebow, Charles edged Jones-Drew 51%-49% via a social-media driven campaign. Waiting for the winner of the Charles/Hillis matchup will be Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers or Patriots fan-favorite Danny Woodhead.

All 32 teams were featured when the tournament began March 21st.

Charles led the NFL by averaging 6.38 yards per carry last season and combined with WR Dwayne Bowe to become the third-same season 1,000-yard RB/WR tandem in team history. He finished the year with a team-high 1,467 rushing yards with five TDs.

With a career rushing average of 6.05 yards per carry, Charles owns the highest mark of any NFL running back totaling more than 300 rushing attempts. Bo Jackson ranks a distant second at 5.40 yards per carry over the course of his four-year NFL career.
