CHIEFS SIGN LB CHARLIE ANDERSON, PLACE LB MARK SIMONEAU ON IR

Anderson was originally released last Saturday afternoon

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has signed LB Charlie Anderson. The team also placed LB Mark Simoneau on injured reserve.

Anderson (6-4, 250) rejoins the Chiefs after seeing action in two games earlier this season. He has played in 94 career games (seven starts) with Houston (2004-07), Miami (2008-09) and Kansas City (2010). He has also played in one postseason contest. He has recorded 62 tackles (42 solo), 7.5 sacks (-60.0 yards), two passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Anderson originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick of Houston in 2004.

The Jackson, Mississippi native saw action in 48 contests (31 starts) at Mississippi, registering 127 tackles, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and five passes defensed. He prepped at Provine High School in Jackson, Mississippi.

Simoneau (6-0, 245) has played in 124 games (68 starts) with Atlanta (2000-02), Philadelphia (2003-05), New Orleans (2006-07) and Kansas City (2010). He has produced 525 tackles (326 solo), 7.0 sacks, one interception, 12 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 52 special teams tackles. Simoneau originally entered the NFL as a third-round selection (67th overall) of Atlanta in 2000 out of Kansas State. He prepped at Smith Center High School in Smith Center, Kansas.
