Richardson played with the Chiefs in 2009

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has signed free agent CB Mike Richardson.

Richardson (5-11, 190) has seen action in 21 games (one start) with New England (2007-08) and Kansas City (2009). He attended training camp with the Chiefs in 2010, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He has recorded 10 tackles (nine solo) and 20 special teams tackles. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (202nd overall) of New England in 2007.

The Warner Robins, Georgia native played in 49 games at Notre Dame, producing 121 tackles (84 solo), 13.0 tackles for loss, eight INTs, 12 passes defensed and five forced fumbles. He was a four-year letterman in football at Warner Robins High School.

The club released LB Justin Cole. Cole entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Chiefs in 2010. He was inactive for the season’s first 11 games.
