CHIEFS RE-SIGN QB BRODIE CROYLE, C RUDY NISWANGER, T RYAN O’CALLAGHAN

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that QB Brodie Croyle, C Rudy Niswanger (pronounced NIZE-wong-er) and T Ryan O’Callaghan have signed their restricted free agent tenders.

Croyle (6-2, 206) has played in 16 games (nine starts) with Kansas City (2006-09). He has completed 173 of 300 passes for 1,631 yards with eight TDs and eight INTs. The University of Alabama product entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (85th overall) of the Chiefs in 2006. Croyle played in 38 games (26 starts) at Alabama, completing 488 of 869 passes for 6,382 yards with 41 TDs and 22 INTs, good for a 128.4 rating. He was a Super Prep All-America selection as a senior at Westbrook Christian High School in Rainbow City, Alabama.

Niswanger (6-5, 301) has played in 46 games (31 starts) with Kansas City (2006-09). He entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Kansas City in 2006. The Monroe, Louisiana native appeared in 47 career games (29 starts) at LSU, starting at least one game at every position on the offensive line during his collegiate career. Niswanger was part of a state championship football squad at Ouachita Christian High School in Monroe, Louisiana.

O’Callaghan (6-7, 330) has played in 40 games (19 starts) with New England (2006-08) and Kansas City (2009). He appeared in 14 contests with 12 starts for the Chiefs a year ago after being acquired off waivers from the Patriots. The Susanville, California native entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (136th overall) of New England in 2006. O’Callaghan played in 47 games (35 starts) at California after prepping at Enterprise High School in Redding, California.
