CHIEFS NAME BILL CHAPIN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS

The Kansas City Chiefs announced today that Bill Chapin has been named the club’s Senior Vice President of Business Operations. Chapin brings experience from all five major professional sports leagues to the Chiefs, including his most recent roles as Vice President of Business Development for Seattle Sounders FC and Director of Marketing and Partnership Development for the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders.

With the Chiefs, Chapin will have responsibility for marketing, including branding, advertising, market research, marketing strategy and implementation. In this role he will have a significant focus on business development and strategic initiatives across the organization. Additionally, he will give primary direction on all aspects of corporate communications and special events for the Chiefs. He will report to Chiefs President Mark Donovan.

In his tenure at the Seahawks / Sounders FC, Chapin directed all marketing activity for the club, including branding and advertising. He helped launch the Seattle Sounders franchise in 2009, contributing to 49 consecutive sellouts. Chapin oversaw the digital and social media departments and established new business relationships throughout the Pacific Northwest with local and national sponsors.

Chapin has served in several different sports marketing capacities including the Director of Ticket Sales for the Anaheim Ducks from 2000-2004; Director of Group & Inside Sales for the Los Angeles Kings from 1996-2000; and as part of the management team in the construction of the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles in 1999. He has also worked for the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Chapin attended University of California-Riverside where he earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science. In December 2003, he graduated with an Executive MBA from The Graziadio School of Business Management at Pepperdine University. He most recently served on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Aquarium and Central Washington University’s Sports Management Program.

Chapin and his wife, Tori, will relocate to Overland Park, Kan. and have two sons.
