And the 23rd Pick of the NFL Draft Has Been.....

A review of the players chosen with the 23rd pick in the last 20 NFL Drafts

The 2014 NFL Draft is less than seven weeks away and the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to make their first draft choice with the 23rd-overall pick. As for who the team will select, that remains to be seen and so until then, we decided to take a look back at which players came off the board at #23, during the last two decades. The players, as well as their career stats (some players are obviously still playing), including postseason numbers, are listed.

2013 - Minnesota Vikings - DT Sharrif Floyd (Florida)

Career: One season

16 games (one start), nine tackles, 10 assists, 2.5 sacks, two PBUs, six QB hurries, three TFLs, one fumble recovery and two kickoff returns for nine yards

2012 - Detroit Lions - T Riley Reiff (Iowa)

Career: Two seasons

32 games (24 starts), nine penalties, seven sacks allowed and one defensive fumble recovery

2011 - Philadelphia Eagles - G Danny Watkins (Baylor)

Career: Three seasons

24 games (18 starts), five penalties, two sacks allowed and one defensive fumble recovery

2010 - Green Bay Packers - T Bryan Bulaga (Iowa)

Career: Three seasons

37 games (33 starts), 17 penalties, 17 sacks allowed and one defensive fumble recovery

Postseason stats:

Five games (five starts) and a .5 sack allowed

2009 - Baltimore Ravens - T Michael Oher (Mississippi)

Career: Five seasons

80 games (80 starts), 43 penalties, 42.25 sacks allowed and two-defensive fumble recoveries

2008 - Pittsburgh Steelers - RB Rashard Mendenhall (Illinois)

The 23rd-overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft will be announced in primetime on Thursday, May 8, followed by the draft's second and third rounds on Friday, May 9. Rounds 4-7 will take place on Saturday, May 10.
