Chiefs & G Brian Waters Host Holiday Dinner for Love Fund Youth
Nov 25, 2009, 11:48:48 AMThroughout the course of his decade of service with the
Kansas City Chiefs, G Brian Waters has always displayed a generous heart. One example that shines through is his work
with the Love Fund. Annually, Waters purchases tickets to each Chiefs home game for these youth. However, the football
experience doesn’t end when the final whistle sounds. Later in the month, Waters invites these very same children from
the Love Fund back to Arrowhead for a pizza party and behind-the-scenes tour. Another successful collaboration between
Waters and the Love Fund was renewed earlier this week. This time, Waters enlisted the help of some red-clad
individuals… namely, his teammates and a jolly old fellow that goes by the name of Santa Claus.
The third year this dinner’s been held, the evening is about offering some holiday cheer and nourishment to some outstanding youth. Waters, flanked by a half-dozen of his teammates, hosts this special holiday dinner for 40 Love Fund kids. However this evening was about more than just a fabulous holiday dinner with all the fixings. After the kids finished eating, Waters and his teammates handed out Chiefs sweatshirts and knit caps to all those in attendance. Then, it was off to Santa for another special package.
“I can’t begin to tell you how much we appreciate everything that Brain and the Chiefs continue to do for the Love Fund,” said Joyce Eacock, Director of Special Events for the Love Fund. “This event means so much to the kids. The interaction the players had with them this evening, handing out gifts, visiting with them, signing autographs, it will leave a lasting impression.”
The Love Fund for Children elevates public awareness and funds good and services for children in need, ages 18 and under. The organization steps in when there is an inability to receive funding from other sources. The Love Fund was established to improve the quality of life for children in need throughout the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Abuse counseling, durable medical equipment, eye exams and glasses, school uniforms, beds and cribs, personal hygiene items, clothes and shoes, and many, many other items are provided by the Love Fund to children in need.
