For the fourth consecutive year, the Kansas City Chiefs joined TeamSmile™ to host “Kansas City Oral Health Care Day.” The event provided complementary dental services, the value of which totals over $200,000, for local under-served youth. Event spokesperson P Dustin Colquitt and a dozen of his teammates were on hand to interact with the 150 children that received vital dental services earlier this weekend in the Pavilion at Arrowhead.

“This is always one of the more special events and I am honored to be involved with it,” noted Colquitt. “To see these kids, many of which have never been to a dentist for various reasons, come here and get much-needed work to their teeth warms my heart.”

State-of-the-art dental services performed at this event included DEXIS digital x-rays, Waterlase MD (a no shot, no drill water laser), tooth-colored permanent crowns delivered in 15 minutes with E4D CAD/CAM technology and the use of Bien Air electric drills (a drill offering minimal noise). Before all the children left the “Kansas City Oral Health Care Day” they received an electronic copy of their dental records on a Dentrix USB bracelet.

“I just felt like we as dentists needed to step up,” noted TeamSmile™ founder Dr. Bill Busch. “I think it’s important that we help the children of Kansas City that can’t afford to see a dentist. We’re very excited that the Chiefs and Dustin have again joined our cause to spread the word about how vital it is to have a healthy smile.”

Additionally, through the benevolence of TeamSmile,™ Colquitt and his Chiefs teammates, over 1,000 deserving individuals will receive complementary tickets to attend the Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills game on December 13, 2009. This figure includes the 150 participants from “Kansas City Oral Heath Care Day.”

TeamSmile™ is a non-profit organization that partners with local sports and dental professionals to provide quality dental care to the underserved children of Kansas City. TeamSmile™ provides full service high tech dental treatment, multi-media oral health education, dental screenings and cleanings to area children.
