Kansas City held a 10-3 halftime lead, marking the first time the Chiefs had led at halftime since owning a 28-24 halftime advantage vs. Miami (12/21/08).
Chiefs in OT: Kansas City has lost its last five overtime contests. Prior to today, the Chiefs last overtime game was a 30-27 loss vs. Tampa Bay (11/2/08). Kansas City’s last overtime victory was a 40-34 win at Green Bay (10/12/03).
Turnover Stats: The Chiefs recovered two opponents’ fumbles for the first time since doing it vs. San Diego (12/14/08). Kansas City has forced at least one turnover in three consecutive games. CB Maurice Leggett recovered a muffed punt, marking KC’s first fumble recovery on special teams since Leggett returned a fumble on a fake FG attempt for a 67-yard TD at Oakland (11/30/08). S Mike Brown registered his first fumble recovery as a member of the Chiefs and the eighth of his career.
Johnson Owns the Most Rushing Attempts in Chiefs History: RB Larry Johnson surpassed RB Priest Holmes (1,321) for the most rushing attempts in Chiefs history on a one-yard run in the first quarter. Johnson has rushed the ball 1,336 times in a Chiefs uniform.
Cassel’s Passing Stats: QB Matt Cassel has thrown a TD pass in four consecutive games, the longest streak of his career. He has also thrown two or more TDs in three consecutive contests, the first time in his career that he has accomplished that feat. Cassel has attempted 100 consecutive passes without throwing an INT dating back to a contest vs. Oakland (9/20).
Vrabel Scores Again: LB Mike Vrabel registered his ninth career TD catch in the regular season on a one-yard reception from QB Matt Cassel. Including two postseason TD catches, Vrabel now owns 11 career receptions (regular and postseason), all of which have gone for TDs.
Colquitt Ties KC Career Mark For Punts Inside the 20: P Dustin Colquitt landed four punts inside the 20, giving him 117 for his career to tie P Louie Aguiar for the Chiefs all-time lead in that category.
Charles Sets a Career High For Receptions: RB Jamaal Charles had a career-high five receptions, surpassing his previous high of four which he reached three times.
Sack Stats: DE Wallace Gilberry registered his second career sack.
Succop’s Initial Two-FG Game: K Ryan Succop registered the first game of his career with two made FGs, connecting from 47 and 38 yards.
