Chiefs Trade QB Tyler Thigpen to Miami for Undisclosed Draft Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the club has traded QB Tyler Thigpen to Miami in exchange for an undisclosed selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Thigpen (6-1, 224) played in 16 games (11 starts) in three seasons with Kansas City (2007-09). He completed 232 of 426 passes for 2,649 passes with 18 TDs and 13 INTs for a 74.7 rating. He added 63 carries for 388 yards with three TDs. He also caught a 37-yard TD pass in 2008. Thigpen was claimed off waivers by Kansas City from Minnesota in 2007 after originally entering the NFL as a seventh-round pick (217th overall) of the Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft.

He played in 41 games (39 starts) at Coastal Carolina, connecting on 486 of 879 passes for 6,598 yards with 53 TDs and 25 INTs for a 132.6 rating. Thigpen was an all-state selection as a running back at Fairfield Central High School in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
