While training camp is still a few weeks away, several members of The Chiefs are arriving for work early this season. LB Turk McBride, RB Kolby Smith and DT Tank Tyler each made the trek back in the City of Fountains ahead of schedule to prepare for camp. What makes the effort of this trio even more special is that they are also taking a timeout and visiting those in the community. Recently, these key members of the Red and Gold spent some quality time with youth at The Children’s Place.

McBride, Smith and Tyler have always held a strong desire to give back to their adopted home. With each player entering their third NFL season after the Chiefs selected them in the 2007 NFL Draft, they are looking to expand their roles but not just on the field. Additionally, they are also focusing their efforts and outreach to the community.

Spending time at The Children’s place is just one way that they are giving back. Throughout the day, this triumvirate interacted with many of the youth and showed much needed affection to every child they came in contact with. As they visited different classrooms their passion for helping local youth was obvious. Each player took the time to relate with kids on an individual basis and their influence was noticeable. The positive impact of their presence was evident through the bright smiles and energetic attitudes of the children.

These three Chiefs are proud to work with such a committed community group. For the past 21 years The Children’s Place has served the Kansas City community through its involvement with youth. They are dedicated to meeting the developmental and mental health needs of the very youngest victims of child abuse, neglect and other trauma. Within the Kansas City community and beyond, the agency’s specialized expertise in working with traumatized young children has made The Children’s Place a recognized leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
