Chiefs Sign Fifth-Round Pick T Colin Brown

twitterThe Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the club has signed fifth-round draft pick T Colin Brown.

Brown (6-7, 335) joined the Chiefs as the club’s fifth-round selection (139th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. He saw action in 43 games (28 starts) at Missouri, where he earned All-Big 12 honors as a junior and senior. He helped guide the Tigers to their first number one ranking in the AP poll since ‘60 and was part of a prolific offense that finished in the nation’s top 10 in total offense his final two seasons. Brown played in three bowl victories and two Big 12 Conference Championship Games during his college career.

Brown started all 14 games at right tackle for Missouri in 2008. He earned All-Big 12 honorable mention accolades and was named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year by his teammates and coaches. He was part of an offensive unit that finished eighth in the country in total offense (484.2 ypg), fourth in passing (330.4 ypg) and sixth in scoring (42.2 ppg).

The Braymer, Missouri native was a first-team all-state selection as a defensive tackle at Braymer High School. Brown garnered first-team all-conference honors as a defensive tackle and tight end as a senior. He also earned all-state honors in basketball and was a McDonald’s All-America nominee, averaging 18.5 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks per game.
