Nov 23, 2008, 4:46:12 PMGoin’ Gonzo: TE Tony Gonzalez registered his 25th career 100-yard receiving game, the highest total by any tight end in NFL history, overtaking Hall of Fame TE Kellen Winslow (24) for sole possession of first place. Gonzalez has a reception in 126 consecutive games, the second-longest mark by a tight end in NFL history. Only Ozzie Newsome (150) has a longer streak. Gonzalez caught a two-yard TD from QB Tyler Thigpen, the 72nd TD of his career. Gonzalez had a season-long 35-yard reception in the second quarter. Gonzalez now has 65 receptions on the season, marking his 10th consecutive season with 60 or more catches. Gonzalez had 10 receptions vs. Buffalo, marking the 11th time in his career he has 10 or more catches in a game in his career. Gonzalez also moved ahead of WR Keenan McCardell (883) for ninth on the NFL’s all-time receiving chart. Gonzalez now has 885 career receptions.
Offensive Notes: The Chiefs topped the 30-point plateau for the second time this season and produced 462 yards of total offense, the club’s highest total since registering 499 yards vs. Seattle (10/29/06).
Thigpen’s Day: QB Tyler Thigpen tied a career high with three TD passes. He previously threw three TDs at San Diego (11/9). He threw a 36-yard TD pass to RB Jamaal Charles, a two-yard TD to TE Tony Gonzalez and a 45-yard TD to WR Mark Bradley. Thigpen has now thrown a TD in five consecutive contests, becoming the first Chiefs signal caller to accomplish that feat since QB Trent Green in 2004. Thigpen has three straight games with two or more TD passes, the club’s longest streak since Green did it in four straight games in 2004.
Charles in Charge: RB Jamaal Charles caught a 36-yard TD pass from QB Tyler Thigpen. It was the first TD of Charles’ career and the longest reception of his career.
LJ’s Run: RB Larry Johnson had a 63-yard run vs. Buffalo, his second-longest run of the season. Johnson had a 65-yard run vs. Denver (9/28).
Bradley TD: WR Mark Bradley registered his third TD in six games as a member of the Chiefs on a 45-yard pass from QB Tyler Thigpen. Bradley now owns seven career TD catches.
The Bowe Show: WR Dwayne Bowe hauled in a three-yard TD from QB Quinn Gray. It was his sixth TD catch of the season and the 11th of his career.
Barth Keeps Connecting: K Connor Barth hit a career-long 45-yard FG. He has now hit his first six FG attempts as a member of the Chiefs.
