Q&A with HERM EDWARDS - 11/20

Nov 20, 2008, 1:53:08 PM

Highlights

Q: Will Tamba Hali play this week?

HERM EDWARDS: “Yes, that’s good.”

Q: How did Tony Gonzalez look today at practice?

EDWARDS: “He did okay. He was okay. He moved around. He’s a tough guy and Tony doesn’t miss games. It’s hard to keep him out of a football game.”

Q: Was the injury related to what knocked him out of the Saints game the second time?

EDWARDS: “Yeah, yes sir. He’s okay and he moved around pretty good.”

Q: The Bills have struggled recently. Can you put your finger on why they have? What aren’t they doing now that they did earlier?

EDWARDS: “I think the turnovers have hurt them. They’ve turned the ball over a lot in the last four weeks and that’s critical. You give the team a short field. The quarterback is not as consistent as he was earlier but youth has something to do with that too. He’s a young quarterback who’s only started 18 games.

“Those things, but they’re still in every game for the most part, kind of like us. In the fourth quarter they don’t make a play or two to find a way to seal it. Before that they were making those plays and weren’t turning the ball over as much.

“They’ve got a good football team, some good athletes on both sides of the ball. Got some good veteran leadership on their football team, some young players they’ve drafted the last couple of years who are playing well for them.”

Q: What do you think of Edwards their quarterback? He’s started quite a bit as a young guy and they’re trying to judge what he’s going to be.

EDWARDS: “They’ve got the perfect coach: Coach Jauron. I know Dick and he’s very patient and he understands that when you start a young quarterback like that there are going to be some growing pains. (Edwards) won five games for them out of the gate. He was hot and now he’s struggling a bit. We’ll find out more about him in how he reacts in the next six (games). But when you start young guys they have a tendency to have some games you wish they wouldn’t have. But that’s part of it.”
