Q: With Tamba Hali out and Turk McBride limited how much more are you going to depend on the other two guys on the
line, Tank Tyler and Glenn Dorsey, to hold it down?
HERM EDWARDS: “They’re the veteran guys. We brought in a kid last week (Gilberry) and a kid this week, Babin, so
they’ll play a lot for us. (Alfonso) Boone can go outside and play some. It’ll be a round robin. You know, Ron
(Edwards) will play in there. We’ll rotate those guys as much as we can.”
Q: It seems Dorsey took another step forward last week. Is this the most important game for him yet because of the
depleted line?
EDWARDS: “Yeah, but you can’t put it all on him because if they feel they can block you one-on-on outside they’re
going to double him inside. That’s what you don’t want. You want guys to have one-on-one battles where they can beat a
guy. Somebody’s going to get doubled and some guys are going to be one-on-one and we hope that they leave him
one-on-one so he can put some pressure on the quarterback especially up the middle.”
Q: New Orleans is pretty bad off injury wise too. Are you and Sean going to commiserate before the game?
EDWARDS: “We’ll check each other’s list. They’ve got kind of nicked too but the quarterback’s not nicked and neither
are the receivers. So they’re pretty good there. It always helps your offense when your quarterback is still there.
He’s a good player.”
Q: What about your quarterback? What kind of week did he have?
EDWARDS: “Yeah, he did. I think he’s gaining confidence every week and doing a lot of good things. He’s just got to
keep going, keep trying to improve on the little things in the second half, put some points on the board.”
Q: Who starts on that right defensive end spot now?
EDWARDS: “Boone will probably start off and then we’ll rotate those guys.”
