Q&A with HERM EDWARDS - 10/31
Oct 31, 2008, 2:00:10 PM
Q: Do you think RB Jamaal Charles will play?
HERM EDWARDS: “Yes I do. Pretty good week. Limited a little bit yesterday and today. Looks good so that’s good for us.”
Q: Is that a surprise after what you heard after the game?
EDWARDS: “Yeah. A lot of things were floating around. He had a little bit of a high ankle, but it’s fine. He’s okay. Tough kid.”
Q: Is CB Brandon Flowers okay?
EDWARDS: “Yeah. His foot is sore, so we just kind of kept him out. He’ll play. Probable today, but he should play.”
Q: What is CB Tyron Brackenridge’s role going to be on Sunday?
EDWARDS: “He’s going to be active. We only have four corners, so if something should happen, he plays nickel, he’d have to go into the game and play. If somebody went down. He’ll help us on special teams. It’s hard to go into the game with only three corners, especially when you play a team like this that plays three wideouts at times and gets you in the nickel package.”
Q: Are you confident going into this game with QB Tyler Thigpen?
EDWARDS: “Yeah. Now he’s playing a very good defense, and that’s what he has to be careful of. He can’t get overexcited with these guys. He’s going to have to realize and this whole team is going to have to realize the speed these guys play with on defense. They’ve got to get ready for it. They’re going to come fast, that’s how they play. They’ve got to be able to adjust for that early in the game.”
Q: TE Brad Cottam liked the idea of catching a few balls. Will that continue?
EDWARDS: “Yeah, he’s probably developed now. He’s another one of our young guys that it’s taken him a little while, but he had a good game last week. He caught the ball, he’s been blocking fairly well the last couple weeks, but now he’s into the passing game of it. He likes catching the ball, he’s a big target, can run, he’s got good speed. When you draft a guy like that you have visions of what he’s going to be, and he’s starting to gain some confidence along with these other young guys. They’re starting to gain a little confidence.”
