Herm Edwards

(Any injuries to report?)– ”(Tre) Stallings knee or ankle rolled, but that was about the only one injury-wise.“

(Basic thoughts on the game) – “As far as the game, they came out an established the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football; they did a good job. Their quarterback made some good plays with his legs and got them down the field, but I though we did a pretty good job with the goal line situation – we didn’t let them in. Just offensively our first two possessions we were at the minus two and minus 11, and we couldn’t really get out of that. But we didn’t move the ball; this was a setback for us. We have been playing fairly decent first half of football games, and we didn’t do that this week.  We did not do that, for some reason I do not know, but we have a week to fix it.“

(What went wrong and how does it feel?) – “It’s disappointing in the fact that we had a good week again of practice, but it just seemed like we couldn’t get out of our own way. Some things happen in the game, but they happen, and you have to overcome those things. I thought it settled down for a while, but then we had a bad punt, which they run back for a touchdown. That gives them some more momentum, and it just kept rolling from there. We moved the ball some offensively, but we slowed down. We had some opportunities but they just beat us, physically, on both sides of the ball.”

(Did you see this coming at all?) – “No, no, I did not. Because I thought we had a good week, and like I said, the last two weeks, we played halfway decent. And I thought we would do that this week, but it didn’t happen.”

(Was this a setback?) – “We’re going to have to play a whole lot better. I think these guys were embarrassed about how they played, and why it happened I don’t know. It’s not like we didn’t prepare, it’s not like they didn’t want to play well, they just didn’t. I don’t want to take anything away from the Dolphins, they did a good job, they came out, they did some things on the run, and hit our quarterback, which is never a good sign when they start hitting your quarterback, and they covered us. They doubled us, and played man to man, and we didn’t even have time to get to the next guy.”

(What about the kicker position?)
– “I thought (Nick) Novak would have made that one; it would have been nice if he made that. So, we’re still evaluating.“

QB Brodie Croyle
(On tonight being a setback) – “It was a setback obviously. We wanted to go out there and have a good showing, score points, and win the game. We just kind of shot ourselves in the foot in the first half. We started out with some bad field position, when we did get something going, we would do something to mess it up. We came out in the third quarter, drove all the way down there and…it was just kind of the mood for the night. We went down there and stalled at the one. Its stuff we can’t do and we have got to improve on, not only next week but against the Patriots.“

(On the team’s confidence) – “I was talking to all the guys on the sideline, and I kept telling them we are going to be a good football team. We are going to be a good offense. Don’t get down. There are things we can build on but we can’t keep shooting ourselves in the foot. ”

QB Damon Huard
(On coming away with any positives from this game) – “I don’t know, it’s pretty tough. When you don’t score any points and you turn the ball over like we did. We took a step back tonight like Herm said. Fortunately it is a preseason game and we still have a lot of time here before the start of the regular season. Hopefully we can get on that practice field and get some things turned around in a hurry.“

(On coming back to Miami) – “It’s always nice to come back. Believe it or not there is not one guy left the team from when I was here. Zach and Jason were the last guys and they moved on this season. I don’t know anyone on that team besides a few trainers, equipment guys and of course Mr. H. But it’s always fun to come back here. It’s kind of where my career started and I have a lot of great memories here.”
