Jul 03, 2008, 9:05:30 AM
Kansas City Chiefs WR Devard Darling is preparing to hold
the inaugural Nassau Elite Devard Darling Football Camp in Nassau, Bahamas. Around 80 campers are expected to
participate in this free camp. They will be instructed by some of the best local and US football coaches, and will have
a once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet NFL players.
The camp will incorporate a Life Skills and Academics program. Athletes will be introduced to a variety of
activities and speakers that will promote the development of character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership.
Speakers from other various backgrounds are slated to be on hand and provide information to the participants on
pursuing a higher education.
“We are excited about the first ever camp in Nassau, and are looking forward to working with top athletes of the
region to refine their already accomplished skills,” Darling noted. “We started the As One Foundation last year to make
a difference in the lives of each of the young people that attend and help them realize that their dreams are
possible.”
The goal of the first-ever camp is to find and recruit talented boys to further their athletic skills and education
at a private school in the United States. The Devard Darling Football Camp strives to encourage young Bahamians ages 11
to 16 to pursue their athletic dreams in American Football.
The As One Foundation was created by Devard Darling, in loving memory of his identical twin brother, Devaughn
Darling, to make a difference in the world by giving underprivileged youth more opportunities through athletic
endeavors, educational programming, and spiritual enrichment. An important part of the As One Foundation Mission is the
spiritual development of our youth. Through As One Ministries, the importance of a Christ-Centered life is incorporated
throughout the beginning, duration of, and conclusion of each camp. The Devard Darling Football Camp strives to
encourage young Bahamians ages 11 to 16 to pursue their athletic dreams in American Football.
