Kansas City has started to build its team through the draft with players who are “Chiefs” rather than acquire “mercenaries” via free agency. The Chiefs currently have 30 players on their 2008 roster who they selected in the NFL Draft. Since Herm Edwards arrived in 2006, Kansas City has drafted 24 players who are still on the roster, including nine starters. In the 2008 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected 12 players, tying Chicago for the most picks this year.
