In Case You Missed It...

1. One of the great things about this time of year in the NFL is you get a whole new crop of dreamers trying to make a roster. Dolphins rookie WR Justin Wynn is a long-shot in the truest sense. He hasn’t played football since 2004, and even then it was just one year at a community college. Now the Miami Herald explains how he’s chasing his NFL dream.

2. The Carroll County Times has another story on a dreamer. A former walk-on at Wisconsin and undrafted rookie with the Bills, S Jim Leonard (just 5-foot-8, 185 pounds) is trying to stay alive in the NFL.

3. Remember former Notre Dame WR Jeff Samardzija who passed on an NFL career to try his hand in baseball? Well he’s pitching pretty well for the Cubs AA team.

4. N.Y. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin’s public persona is an old-school, tough-minded disciplinarian. But the N.Y. Times explores his softer, lesser-known side in this profile.

5. The cover story in this week’s The Sporting News is the amazing story of Chargers CB Antonio Cromartie. Before he had his breakout performance last season he had to come to terms of a harrowing experience in which his mother was kidnapped.
