Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the Kansas City Chiefs Player Development program has been honored as the recipient of the NFL’s Outstanding Overall Player Development Program Award for 2007. The purpose of the NFL Player Development program, as defined by its mission statement, is to challenge NFL players to be lifelong learners while pursuing continuous improvement in family relations, social interactions, personal growth and career development during and beyond their careers as professional football players.

Led by Executive Director of Player Development Lamonte Winston, Kansas City’s Player Development department has helped countless Chiefs players continue their education through the NFL’s Continuing Education Program, obtain post-football career guidance and learn valuable lessons regarding financial education. Over the past year, Chiefs players have served internships at local business, attended courses at prestigious institutions such as Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and enrolled in the NFL’s Broadcast Boot Camp. The menu of workshops, seminars and services that the department provides is an invaluable asset to the personal lives of Chiefs players and those that surround them.
