Nov 05, 2007, 4:22:22 PM

croyletdcrThe quarterback position is widely acknowledged around the NFL as a very special spot in the roster. However, Kansas City Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle and his wife Kelli have a different perspective of what the word “special” means. Brodie and his wife joined with Olympic gold medalist Ian Crocker and over 200 guests to commemorate a very deserving group of people. “The Celebrating Champions” event was held to recognize the achievements of four Special Olympics Kansas (SOKS) athletes.

This celebration featured a gourmet dinner and both silent and live auctions. #12 even did his little turn on the catwalk to model some of the items up for auction. Brodie took center stage and spoke on the importance of community involvement and then assisted with the awards presentation to honor the four exemplary Special Olympics athletes and their achievements. The 2007 honorees are: Zachary Herries, Patrice Weathers, Daniel Sokoloff and Craig Chase.

Special Olympics is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports competitions, health and nutrition programs and leadership development. For more information visit www.ksso.org.
