Chiefs Continue Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Initiatives

are teaming up for a very special cause. At the team’s October 7th game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the
organization will officially recognize “National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” Thanks to a
series of exciting programs, Chiefs fans are able to participate in the fight against breast cancer while showing their
Chiefs pride. Kansas City Chiefs breast cancer awareness programs includes:
1) The return of “Pink Ribbon Wear.” $5 from the sales of all “Pink Ribbon Wear” hats, shirts, ties and scarves sold at Arrowhead and via kcchiefs.com are benefiting the Young Survival Collation.
2) Lia Edwards and 40 CWO members will be distributing free Pink Spirit Bands to fans as they enter the turnstiles of Arrowhead on October 7th.
3) Chiefs players will be joined by a special duo of breast cancer survivors during the coin toss. Both Karen Connor and Hannah Fenley will be at mid-field has Honorary Co-Captains on October 7th.
4) During that game you will notice that the Chiefs coaches and support staffers will be wearing special breast cancer awareness pink ribbon pins. Additionally, the players on both teams will have pink Gatorade towels as a show of solidarity for all those touched by breast cancer.
5) The halftime show during the October 7th game is a “Tribute to Breast Cancer Survivors” preformed by pink-clad members of Jazzercise. These Jazzercisers have raised money to participate in this extravaganza and a percentage of those funds will benefit the Young Survival Collation.
6) Chiefs Cheerleader Haylee will sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the October 7th game. She is doing so in honor of her grandmother, Verlea Sands, a survivor celebrating her 76th birthday. The Cheerleaders will also be pink-clad for one performance during the game in support of breast cancer awareness.
7) Additionally at the October 7th game, Chiefs TD Pack Band Music Director Patti DiPardo-Livergood will be joined by Singly None, a girls ensemble from Pembrook Hill High School under the direction of Sara Allison. As they perform “I Run for Life,” a group of breast cancer survivors will assemble on the field.
8) Throughout the month of October, the mirrors in the ladies restrooms of Arrowhead Stadium will have special mirror clings lauding self-examinations.
9) On October 1st the Chiefs Cheerleaders joined Kansas City Cancer Center in turning the landmark JC Nichols Fountain pink in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There are currently 10 metro-area fountains that have been turned pink.
10) The Arrowvision screen will again have a pink ribbon affixed to it and special Breast Cancer Awareness Public Service Announcements will be played during games in October.
