Chiefs Agree to Terms with Fifth-Round Draft Pick RB Kolby Smith

smithkKansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with RB Kolby Smith. Smith is the second of Kansas City’s seven 2007 draft picks to reach an agreement with the club. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.

Smith (5-11, 213) joined the Chiefs as the first of the club’s two fifth-round picks (148th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft. He saw action in 45 games (12 starts) at Louisville, logging 316 carries for 1,892 yards (6.0 avg.) with 18 TDs. He also added 56 receptions for 581 yards and two TDs.

Smith appeared in all 13 contests (10 starts) for the Cardinals in 2006, registering a career-high 154 carries for 891 yards (5.6 avg.) and seven TDs. He also caught 24 passes for 217 yards (9.0 avg.).

The Tallahassee, Florida native earned all-area honors at Rickards High School in Tallhassee, Florida after rushing for 1,300 yards as a senior in 2002.
