Have you ever wondered what your favorite Kansas City Chiefs players do in the off season? Then you’ve come to the
right place! From now until the team departs for training camp in River Falls, Wisconsin, kcchiefs.com will highlight

the next Chiefs player will turn up!
Chiefs Pro Bowl G Will Shields hosted his annual Women’s Golf Scramble at Eagles’ Landing Golf Course of Belton
earlier this summer. Proceeds from the event, which was sponsored by the Granfalloon Bar and Grill on the Plaza, once
again went to support the Will to Succeed Foundation. A joint venture between Shields and his wife, Senia, the
organization was established to inspire, guide and improve the lives of abused, battered and neglected women and
children.

Shields has always been determined to make this outing memorable for everyone involved, and this year was no
different. Unlike other golf tournaments, he and fellow teammate drove around the course on golf carts armed with water
guns. Shields himself sported an “afro wig” and was sure to dispense as much laughter as his did water from his super
soaker on the day. Following the festivities on the course, participants headed back to the Granfalloon for dinner,
cocktails, auction and live music.
This event in its 21st year was again a huge success as well as one of many ways the Will To Succeed Foundation
gives back to the community. The foundation supports over a dozen programs through educational tools, opportunities and
nurturing experiences to these inner city children and women who have little or no access to other assistance.
A portion of the proceeds for this year’s tourney was directed by the foundation to the Children’s SPOT at St.
Luke’s Hospital. The Children’s SPOT is a department at St. Luke’s providing early and intensive rehabilitative therapy
to young children with disabilities and developmental delays. The funds received by St. Luke’s will be utilized not
only for the construction but to also to help furnish a new preschool facility.
