The most dominating pass rusher in the NCAA Division 1-AA ranks, Jared was recognized as the division’s premier defensive player by becoming the first Big Sky Conference player to ever win the Buck Buchanan Award in 2003…The most decorated player in school history had a stellar career that saw him wreak havoc in the opposing backfield ever since he arrived on campus…Blessed with superb athletic skills, he adds to his impressive resume with his abilities as a quality long snapper…The son of former Minnesota Viking, Ron Allen, Jared started 33 of 41 games during his career…The four-time All-Big Sky Conference selection finished his career with 250 tackles (112 solos), 38.5 sacks for minus 269 yards, 73 stops for losses of 338 yards, seven fumble recoveries for 57 yards in returns, including a touchdown, 13 forced fumbles, three interceptions for 38 yards in returns with a score, 26 pass deflections, a blocked kick and a 3-yard touchdown catch… Only Josh Hayes (42, 1994-96) had more sacks in ISU history…His 13 fumbles caused set another school career-record.

2003 SEASON
Unanimous All-American and All-Big Sky Conference first-team choice…Recipient of the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top defensive player in the NCAA Division 1-AA ranks…Named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year…Team MVP…Started all year at left defensive end, leading the team with a career-high 102 tackles (48 solos)…Led the nation and set a school season-record with 17.5 sacks for minus 116 yards, topping the old mark of 16.5 sacks by Josh Hayes in 1994…Set another Bengals season-record with 28 stops for losses of 130 yards…Recovered three fumbles and caused six others…Also deflected nine passes.

Montana-Western…Caused a fumble when he knocked the ball out of QB Travis Kirby’s hands after an 11-yard sack in the third quarter, deflected 4 passes and made 6 tackles in the season opener.

Boise State…Again caused a fumble when he sacked QB Ryan Dinwiddie for a 4-yard loss in the first quarter and had 10 tackles.

Northern Colorado…Added 8 assisted tackles and a stop at the line of scrimmage.

Sacramento State…Totaled 5 hits and a 5-yard sack of QB Ryan Leadingham.

Eastern Washington…Sacked QB Erik Meyer four times for minus 22 yards, stripping the passer of the ball in the game’s first overtime as he also had five stops behind the line of scrimmage, 2 pass break-ups and 9 tackles (5 solos) in a 55-52 double-overtime win.

Montana State…Tallied 7 tackles (5 solos) as he sacked QB Travis Lulay twice for losses of 22 yards.

Montana…Registered 3.5 sacks of QB Craig Ochs for minus 19 yards and delivered 8 tackles.

Weber State…Stopped tailback Nick Chournos for a 5-yard loss, sacked QB Tate Bennett twice for minus 11 yards and posted 6 hits (5 solos).

Portland State…Sacked QB Joe Wiser twice for losses of 15 yards, including a 10-yard sack in the first quarter that caused a fumble and was in on 8 tackles.

Northern Arizona…Made 12 tackles with a forced fumble, a 7-yard sack and a pair of stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Cal Poly…Collected 9 solo tackles with a pair of stops for losses, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble…Recovered a fumble after a bad shotgun snap, advancing the ball 4 yards for a touchdown…Later, he lined up at tight end, catching a 3-yard touchdown on a halfback option from David Beverly.

Southern Utah…Recovered a fumble by Casey Rehrerat at the ISU 14-yard line in the third quarter and posted 14 tackles with 3 stops for losses of 7 yards in the season finale.
