Starting Streaks/Games Played: G Will Shields started his 139th consecutive game for the Chiefs which is the longest active streak of any player on the Chiefs roster. LB Marvcus Patton has now played in 190 consecutive NFL games.
KC Gets TD on First Offensive Possession For First Time in 2001: With an 10-yard TD run in the first quarter, RB Priest Holmes scored Kansas City’s first TD on the club’s opening drive of a game in 2001.
A Rare Loss With 30+ Rushes: Kansas City had 36 rushing attempts at Oakland, marking the first time the Chiefs had 30+ rushing attempts in a loss since having 31 carries in a 17-16 loss at San Diego (11/26/00). Since ’90, the Chiefs are now 83-9 (.902) when rushing 30+ times in a game.
Fourth Quarter Shutout: For the sixth time this season and the third time in four games, the Chiefs defense pitched a fourth-quarter shutout at Oakland. Kansas City did not permit any fourth quarter points vs. NYG, WAS, PIT, NYJ and SEA.
Turnover Stats: The Chiefs forced five turnovers, the club’s most since getting five (3 FRs, 2 INTs) at San Diego (11/26/00). The club’s +4 turnover ratio vs. Oakland was the best since that contest vs. the Chargers, as well. Kansas City’s four fumble recoveries were the most since getting four vs. Minnesota (12/12/99).
Time of Possession: For the first time this season the Chiefs held the edge in time of possession and did not win. Kansas City held a 33:00 to 27:00 advantage vs. Oakland.
Holmes Joins Chiefs 1,000-Yard Club: With an 11-yard run in the first quarter, RB Priest Holmes became the seventh player in Chiefs history to record a 1,000-yard rushing season and the first to do it since Christian Okoye in ’91. He now has 1,148 yards, the second-highest total in team history. Holmes broke the 1,000-yard barrier in the 12th game of 2001, ranking as the second-fastest Chief to that mark. Okoye reached 1,000 yards in the 11th game of the ’89 season. He now has five 100-yard rushing days on the season, the most since Okoye had a franchise-record eight in ’89.

Holmes Becomes Third Player to Get a 100-Yard Double-Double in Chiefs History: RB Priest Holmes became just the third player in Chiefs history to record 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards in the same game. Holmes had 168 yards rushing and a career-high 109 yards receiving. He established a career high with 277 combined net yards, the second-highest single game total in Chiefs history. WR Stephone Paige owns the record with 309 yards vs. San Diego (12/22/85). Holmes caught a 67-yard TD pass in the second quarter, which marked Kansas City’s longest offensive play from scrimmage in 2001 and the longest reception of Holmes’ career.
RB Tony Reed was the first to accomplish a 100-yard double-double, getting eight catches for 103 yards and rushing 20 times for 106 yards at the N.Y. Giants (10/21/79). RB Joe Delaney was the last to do it, registering three catches for 104 yards and recording 28 carries for 106 yards vs. Oakland (10/11/81).

Holmes Establishes KC Single-Season Record For Yards From Scrimmage, 10+ Yard Runs: RB Priest Holmes has established a Kansas City single-season record with 1,635 total yards from scrimmage in 2001 (1,146 rushing, 489 receiving). He surpassed the previous mark of 1,622 established by Abner Haynes in ’62.
Holmes had 10 runs of 10 or more yards at Oakland and has a franchise-record 38 on the season. Barry Word held the previous single-season record with 29 runs of 10 or more yards in ’90.

Peterson Notes: With a 43-yard FG in the first quarter, K Todd Peterson extended his streak of consecutive made field goals to 14, but that streak was snapped when he missed a 28-yard FG in the second quarter. Peterson attempted his first two NFL punts which went for 27 and 34 yards.
Return Notes: Tim Brown’s 88-yard punt return TD was the first allowed by the Chiefs since Minnesota’s Randy Moss had a 64-yard TD (12/12/99). Dante Hall registered a career-long 71-yard kickoff return in the third quarter, the longest of his career and the longest by a Kansas City player since WR Tamarick Vanover had a 77-yarder vs. Denver (11/16/97).
Green, Gonzalez Moves Up 20+ Yard Passing/Receptions Chart: QB Trent Green now has 39 passes of 20+ yards on the season, the fifth-highest single-season total in team history. TE Tony Gonzalez now has 44 receptions of 20+ yards in his career, the third-highest total in Chiefs annals. Gonzalez’s 24-yard TD in the fourth quarter was his fourth of the season and the 28th of his career. That TD marked the 50th career TD pass by QB Trent Green, as well.

Fumble Notes: S Bracy Walker recovered his third career fumble in the first quarter which was forced by DE Monty Beisel, the first of his career. LB Donnie Edwards forced and recovered his ninth career fumble in the third quarter. DE Duane Clemons forced his eighth career fumble in the fourth quarter, which marked the third fumble recovery of S Greg Wesley’s career.
Owens Sack: DE Rich Owens recorded his second sack of the season (-5.0 yards) in the third quarter. He now has 27.5 for his career.
Woods INT: S Jerome Woods registered his second INT of the season and the 11th of his career off QB Rich Gannon in the third quarter.
Gonzalez Catch Streak: TE Tony Gonzalez has now caught a pass in 16 consecutive games.
Injuries: P Dan Stryzinski (mild head trauma), OT John Tait (thigh), DE Eric Hicks (ribs) and WR Larry Parker (shoulder).
