KC MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR LAMAR HUNT SET FOR TUESDAY, DEC 19

Kansas City will have its opportunity to pay its final respects to Lamar Hunt in a special memorial service to be held at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Missouri on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 2:30 PM. 

The memorial service is open to the general public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 12:30 PM with the program slated to begin promptly at 2:30 PM. 

Family members and dignitaries from around the sports world will be in attendance.

The Community of Christ Auditorium is located at 1001 Walnut Street, Independence, Missouri, 64050, and can comfortably accommodate nearly 6,000 people with parking for 3,000. The auditorium’s phone number is 816/833-1000.

To reach the auditorium you may take the following routes

VIA I-70 Westbound
Take I-70 west to Independence, Missouri. Take the Noland Road exit. Turn right (north) on Noland road to Walnut (approximately 9 stoplights). Turn left (west) onto Walnut and go 1 mile to River. Turn left (south) onto River (the Auditorium, with a green dome, is on your right). Turn right (west) into the first parking lot entrance.

VIA I-70 Eastbound
Take I-70 east to I-435. Go north on I-435 to 23rd Street (first exit).  Turn right (east) onto 23rd Street and drive toward (Independence). Go a few miles to Crysler:  Turn left (north) onto Crysler and go up the hill just past the first stop light. Turn right (east) into the Auditorium (green dome) parking lot.

VIA I-435 Northbound
Take I-435 north to 23rd Street (first exit past I-70). Turn right (east) onto 23rd Street and drive toward Independence. Go a few miles to Crysler. Turn left (north) onto Crysler and go up the hill just past the first stop light. Turn right (east) into the Auditorium (green dome) parking lot.

VIA I-435 Southbound or KCI Airport
Take I-435 south to 23rd Street.  Turn left (east) onto 23rd Street and drive toward Independence. Go a few miles to Crysler. Turn left (north) onto Crysler and go up the hill just past the first stop light. Turn right (east) into the Auditorium (green dome) parking lot.

VIA I-29 Southbound
Take I-29 south to I-35 south. Take I-35 south to Hwy. 210. Go east on Hwy I-435. Take I-435 south to 23rd Street. Turn left (east) onto 23rd Street and drive toward Independence. Go a few miles to Crysler.  Turn left (north) onto Crysler and go up the hill just past the first stop light. Turn right (east) into the Auditorium (green dome) parking lot.

A pool video feed will be provided by the Community of Christ Auditorium staff and be available to local media affiliates after the completion of the service. The family has specified there will be no live feeds and what video or audio used must be edited for news stories only.  Airing of the service in its entirety is strictly prohibited on the Web or in any television or radio format.
 
Still photography will be permitted during the first 15 minutes of the service from a predetermined area. Respectful use of flash photography is permitted during that time period. Media seating will be provided in a designated section of the auditorium.
