Professional Bio
Lamonte Winston was promoted to the post of Executive Director of Player Development in May of 2006 after spending the previous nine campaigns as Director of Player Development. In 2003, Winston was selected by NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue to represent the Chiefs at the Stanford Business Executive Training Program.
Winston also serves as a player liaison to front office personnel on both professional and personal issues. In addition to his duties leading the Player Development department, Winston also assists the college and pro scouting departments with player cross-check evaluations.
A 16-year member of the Chiefs organization, Winston originally joined Kansas City as an area scout in ‘93 and continues to evaluate talent for the club. Prior to his arrival in Kansas City, he served as an assistant coach at Nevada (’90-93) and San Francisco State (’86-89) in addition to stints at -Merritt Junior College and Albany High School in Albany, California. After beginning his playing career at -Merritt, he transferred to Westminster -College before moving on to San -Francisco State. In 2000, he was inducted into the San Francisco State Hall of Fame. A member of an NFL family, Winston’s brother, Kevin, serves as the Senior Director of Player Development for the Atlanta Falcons.
