Professional Bio

The Kansas City Chiefs have named Bob Moore as the club’s team historian. Moore joined the Chiefs organization as director of public relations in ‘89, making his 21-season stint in that capacity the longest of any individual in franchise history. Moore will continue his longtime service to the Chiefs in his new role effective immediately.

As team historian, Moore will serve as the club’s primary authority on the history of the Chiefs. Moore will continue his work as the curator of the Chiefs Hall of Honor, which will debut at the New Arrowhead later this year. The Chiefs Hall of Honor will celebrate the rich history of the Chiefs franchise and the American Football League, which was founded by Lamar Hunt in ‘59. Moore has been the club’s point person on the project for several years, an undertaking to which he has dedicated extensive time and research. When complete, the Hall of Honor will feature interactive video displays, as well as unique artifacts and memorabilia from some of the most important figures and moments in the history of the Chiefs and the AFL.

A longtime advocate of historic preservation, Moore was a founding member of the National Advisory Board of Trustees for The Civil War Preservation Trust, the largest non-profit battlefield preservation organization in the United States. He was a former board member of the Jackson County, Missouri Historical Society and served in a number of capacities for Gettysburg National Military Park.

Moore brings a deep appreciation of Chiefs history and the accomplishments of Lamar Hunt to his new post. Over the years, he has worked on a number of special projects for the Hunt family. He served as project coordinator for the NFL Films presentation on Hunt’s life entitled “Games: Lamar Hunt and the Landscape of American Sports.” Moore will also continue his ongoing work with the Founder’s Plaza, a spacious area on the north side of the New Arrowhead that will celebrate Hunt’s many contributions to the Chiefs and professional sports.

With more than 30 years of experience as a sports publicist, Moore served as director of public relations for the Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars, two-time champions of the United States Football League. He also worked on the collegiate level as the sports information director of Drexel University and at his alma mater of Saint Francis College (PA). Moore is a native of Altoona, PA.
