The Chiefs Children's Fund and Charity Game

tonygccThe Chiefs Children’s Fund was established in 1983 and provides vital support to more than 60 local youth agencies annually. The Chiefs Charity Game, which will celebrate over 23 years of existence, is one of the largest of its kind in the NFL.

Annually, the game raises more than $500,000 for local charities. In addition to the monies raised, the Chiefs Charity Game allows thousands of children who come form disadvantaged circumstance to attend the game through a variety of youth agencies. For the past three years combined, the game has amassed nearly $2 million for this worthwhile agency.

The Chiefs Charity Game goes to support Operation Breakthrough. The facility, run by Sisters Corita Bussanmas and Berta Sailer, has been serving Kansas City for more than 33 years. As it has since its inception, Operation Breakthrough strives to help children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving and educational environment.

On a typical day, Operation Breakthrough (delete the center) serves over 650 children; a quarter or which are homeless. Representing some of the neediest individuals in the metro area, all of the children at the center face devastating poverty with approximately 30 percent being in the custody of the state due to physical or sexual abuse.

If you’d like to know how to help, there are several sponsorship packages available ranging from $500 to $25,000. All you need to do is call 816.329.5222 or send an e-mail to lee@operationbreakthrough.org for more information. You can also visit the charity game website at: chiefscharitygame.com.
