The Chiefs Way

OUR TEAM IS PLEASED TO MEET YOU…

After practice. After the game. After the season. Whenever possible, the Chiefs family takes pride and pleasure in teaming up with great people on initiatives that benefit our community. Together, we make Kansas City better.

Inspired by the example set by Chiefs Founder Lamar Hunt, the team’s players, executive leadership and support staff have raised over $20 million for charitable purposes since 1998. In addition, the club donates over 2,000 autographed items annually to non-profit organizations. Through the Chiefs Children’s Fund, the Chiefs Charity Game has raised over $6 million since its inception in 1985.

When first-year players join the team, they are introduced to the pleasures of community service through the Chiefs Rookie Club. Since LB Derrick Thomas established his “Third and Long Foundation” following his rookie season in 1990, more than 60 players have created individual player foundations and/or charitable programs. Additionally, our players volunteer their time and make more than 600 appearances in the community each year.

Our players have set the standard in the NFL, having received more than a dozen national awards for their dedication to our community. And no team has received more NFL Man of the Year designations than the Chiefs. However, we don’t team up to win awards or adulation, as nice as they are. We team up because the needs are great and we are eager to be good neighbors. We are convinced that positive influences help produce healthy communities.

Throughout the year, look for the Chiefs offering assistance and encouragement to underprivileged children and families, supporting health and wellness initiatives through awareness programs and preventive measure campaigns, initiating hunger relief efforts, honoring our men and women in service, offering and supporting educational, literacy and character educational programs, and fostering youth football initiatives. From medical research to basic needs, our team works to confront challenges.

For the Chiefs, it’s a labor love.

Chiefs Charity Game Celebrating a Quarter-Century of Caring

Over the years, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chiefs Children’s Fund have worked in unison to make life better for children in our community. One of the ways this is accomplished is via the annual Chiefs Children’s Charity Game. In fact, over $6 million has been raised for worth-while charities throughout the metro thanks to this initiative. This year, the Charity Game, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will go to benefit the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI).

CCVI is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency located on the Children’s Center Campus at 3101 Main Street in midtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Center’s mission is to prepare children who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities, to function at their highest potential in the sighted world. CCVI provides a comprehensive program for children, birth through school age, that includes highly specialized instruction, therapies and family education. Currently, CCVI has an approximate enrollment of 200 children while servicing 350 unique individuals a year.
